Strange ringed gull

Was taking photos of gulls, like you do, and when going through the delete-delete-delete phase I noticed that this one had a small red ring on it's leg but not metal ring on it's other leg.  To my surprise the European colour-ring Birding site came up blank.  Any ideas?

Two photos previously, just in case the ID is a factor...

  1. Hi there,

This looks like a ring that has been added by a bird sanctuary...maybe it was brought in for treatment recently?

  3. Hello Mike,

This bird has been seen at Walcott on and off for several months now and I wonder if it was marked and released by the Seal and Seabird Rescue Centre just up Mill Common Road...

  4. Helloo...

This bird has been seen at Walcott on and off for several months now and I wonder (although have never enquired) if it was recovered, ringed and released by the Seal and Seabird Rescue folk along nearby Mill Common Road...

    Atb,

  6. The Seal and Bird Sanctuary claim responsibility! A short email communication produces this response "....it came in 2/3 days old....31/5/2011 we do ring them and leave them to soft release from our hospital, they come and go as they please....so nice to know this one is still doing well, many thanks for contacting us. "

    Nice.
